Club Fest

Hello Friends!

I would like to remind you that tomorrow (8/30) will be Club Fest at Barton Hall from 1-4. GCF will be setting up a booth there so feel free to come check us out or help us out even.

We're also bringing back our famous weekly Dinners on North. We usually meet weekly on Monday nights as a fellowship to eat and have fun so come join us as we come to fellowship together and eat good food! We'll meet at Appel at 7PM (8/30).

And for all the Tarantino fans out there, we're going to go watch Inglourious Basterds tomorrow (Sunday 8/29) at 5PM. We'll be TCAT'ing our way to Ithaca Mall so we're going to meet at Collegetown Bus Stop at 4:30 (Bus leaves at 4:35). If you live on North, let me know and we'll keep in touch with you. Shoot me back an email or call me at 480.440.6140 if you're interested.

Lastly, if you're still looking for a church or need a ride to church, let me know and we'll be happy to help you out.

Best,

Justin

Large Group this Thursday (9/3)

Friends,

I'd like to invite you to our Second Large Group at Kimball B11 this Thursday 7:30PM for a time of worship, praise, and fellowship. Our very own Intervarsity Staff Worker, Barb Westin, will be talking to us about Failure. After this Thursday, we will be holding our Large Groups on North at RPU 218 on Fridays.

If you are new or interested in our fellowship, we'd welcome you to come out and discover who we are. We'd love to get to know you more!

We will also be setting up a grill to cook S'mores from 5-7PM at Appel Commons before Large Group so swing by and enjoy S'mores with us. If you're unsure where our Large Group is and you live on North, come join us for some S'mores at Appel and walk with us to Kimball B11 at 7PM.

And get excited for Camp Out, where we will be camping out as a fellowship, growing together in our Christian faith, and having a LOT of fun in the woods. More on that at Large Group...

If you have any questions, give me a call at 480.440.6140 or shoot me back an email.

See you there,

Justin Hui

Tomorrow is our last day of Book Push from 10:30AM-3:30PM. We will be helping freshmen and others carry their books to North and get to know them better in front of the Cornell Store.

Interfelly Fair: We will be on the Balch Lawn on North Campus this Tuesday from 12-3PM to worship with other Christian fellowships on campus and meet new freshmen!

We will be having a Smores Night this Thursday from 5-7PM on Appel Commons.

Finally, our First Large Group will be this Thursday 7:30PM at Kimball B11. Come join us for our very first Large Group of the year together as we come to fellowship, learn about our new vision, have fun, and welcome the new freshmen into our fellowship.

Let God be glorified as we extend our hands to the freshmen at what must be a hectic time for them. Let's put our best effort in welcoming them into our fellowship!

Authentic Community-Large Group 3/6

Authentic Community

-Do you experience authentic community in your church fellowship or
is it more friendly socialization?
-Write about your small group community experiences.

-Think of the people around you. What are some real needs the real
you can meet?

-Describe some ways you can give your life to others.
Describe some ways you can allow others to give their lives to you.

Why Community Matters

-Why do you think Jesus commanded his followers to love one another
in the same manner with which he loved them?

-Write down what the people closest to you need the most right now.
What would it cost you to meet those needs?

-What makes you feel most connected to other people? How do you
communicate and receive love?

Experiencing Community

-In what ways do you project yourself as someone you think people will like?

-In what areas of your life do you struggle most with purity? How do
you hide these things from others?

-What is the difference between a real need and a convenient need?

-What needs are you most likely to meet? What needs do you avoid meeting?

-Rate yourself on both giving and receiving. Write about any difference
you see in your attitude toward each one.

-What is the difference between true humility and false humility?

-What have been some of your less than noble reasons for giving in the past?

-How do you feel when you do something special for someone and they fail to show
proper appreciation?

-In what ways do you think you can express thanks when you are treated like a servant?

-Name two or three “strangers” in your classes, dorm, or fellowship.

-How would Jesus have you express his love to them?

-Name two or three outcasts and unlovable people in classes, dorm, or
fellowship. How would Jesus have you express his love to them?

A couple of you mentioned about wanting to purchase Dragon DayT-shirts. For those who want the 2009 standard shirt (dragon on top of thecornell clock tower), you can go to Rand Hall (the building that neversleeps) 2nd floor in the 1st year studios to buy a shirt. You don't need me
to do that for you. For a bonus, if you come tonight at 10PM you get to see architects chug milk. Yay for milk day

Some of you mentioned that you are interested in the special edition t-shirt(Dragon scales). These are American Apparel shirts and they look quitehot.

Because these shirts are exclusive to AAP students, you'd have to buy itthrough me. I would need to know a couple of things:

1) Name
2) NetID
3) Size (YL-XL)
4) V-neck or no V-neck
5) Which color combo (a,b,c,d,e)

These shirts are $12 and you can only pay by cash. The deadline is March 2so please let me know soon if you're interested. Because I am not a bank, please pay me soon should you decide to purchase one.

See you on Friday!

Justin
